Despicable Me favored Top on Box Office

The last weekend had been a rather busy one in Hollywood with  some highly anticipated movies hitting the theatres  and prior to the release there were speculations and predictions made by both audience and Hollywood pundits but seeing the box office records it appears some had been true to the fact while some were proved to be otherwise.

The most coveted first place in the box office list is held by the last weeks new release animation flick Despicable Me and it seems that it had been not so despicable to the viewers but instead had been a rather appealing one. It has shown a weekend gross of a whopping $60,117,000 and as the total gross of $60,117,000 suggests the family audience are likely to flock around this one that promise a bright future for the movie which featured the vocal talents of Steve Carell under the direction of Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud.

The supernatural flick Eclipse of the phenomenal Twilight Saga had to take one step down from the first place to the second but the popularity among the fans remains as it had so far made a total income of $237,000,000 which includes a weekend amount of $33,400,000. Nonetheless the David Slade directorial is so far the most successful in the series and with few records under its belt the coming weeks do not appear to be bleak.

In the third place is the Nimród Antal directorial of another installment in the popular alien franchise Predators which was released only few days ago. The science fiction thriller has so far made a total amount of $25,300,000 which is also the weekend amount since the movie was released nearing the week end. Though it appears that the beginning had not been a smashing one this Adrien Brody starter is complete in its share of adventure that might attract more audience in coming weeks.

The third episode of the all time favorite family animation Toy Story 3 is now in the fourth place with a total gross of a noticeable $340,200,000 making the movie as one of the top grosser in the genre of animation movies. The weekend also had been a busy one for the movie with a not too bad amount of $22,000,000 placing Tom Hanks and Tim Allen among the most talked about list.

It is true that the list contains some unlikely combinations but at the same it cannot be denied that this is the taste of the audience. With a number of eagerly awaited movies to be released in this week the next box office is likely to be a total different one from this one.
